Accounts of soldiers using enemy artillery during battle?

I've seen a small number of times in movies where soldiers, upon advancing onto enemy lines, attempt to man artillery pieces such as cannons in an attempt to turn them around and fire on the their former operators.

My normal thought was that this is just dramatic license to make the movie more interesting, but is there really any evidence of this actually occurring, like American Civil War accounts?

It did happen with old style artillery occassionally in order to rout a retreating enemy force.

Which is why artillery personnel started 'spiking' their guns if they could not take them with them.
