How do you get rid of a swollen lip?

I got a piercing on tuesday and the right side of my upper lip swollen. I've used boiled water and salt because I heard it works but I don't think it really helped. I also put ice on it but Im not seeing a difference either. Is there any home remedy or even a medicine or pill I can take. Its my birthday on saturday and all my family and friends are throwing me a party and I don't want to look horrible. Thanks in advance.

Keep putting ice on it every now and then. A bag of frozen peas works well because it molds to your face (Just make sure the bag is clean and wrapped in paper towel, so that it doesnt promote infection). Also take two advil to bring the swelling down. The swelling should go down by Saturday, if it doesnt then that means it might be infected and you should have your doctor check it out.

ice Ice ICE. But, if the swelling is because of infection (touch it- if it hurts more than a tiny bit, or hurts without touching it, or has redness around it, or any discharge that isn't clear, it's probably infected), treat it according to the aftercare instructions you received; they should state how to treat an infection for your specific piercing. As for mouth piercings, make sure you're using Listerine or some antibacterial agent after every meal, and for an infection my personal recommendation is Glyoxide. It's a gel form of peroxide which disinfects and speeds up healing. It has worked WONDERS for me, so I really suggest trying it- it will work by Saturday!

The the most important thing, don't touch, or bite it! anything like that will only make it worse. The more you leave it alone the faster it will go away. but try to keep it really clean, so if you do have to touch it, wash your hands first.

You let it go down on its own. Any playing with it will only make it worse.

MOTRIN, or Ibuprofen (same thing). It's an anti-inflamatory...... take it as directed.

What you are doing is good. Also try cold packs.
