How do you say "my dog is cute" in Japanese?

would it be "Watashi no inu wa kawaii desu"

or "Watashi no inu ga kawaii desu".

I always get ga and wa confused.

"Watashi no inu wa kawaii desu" is correct.

You'd say "Watashi no inu ga kawaii desu" when there're other things/dogs to compare. For example, someone may ask you "which one do you think is cute/the cutest?" Then you say "Watashi no inu ga kawaii desu".

watashi no inu wa kawaii desu

    私の犬は可愛いです。

    it is the same:

WA or GA are difficult to learn.

you know,WA is used when you want to focus that INU is the subject of the phrase.

    bye! ^^

The particle が has character that can point at or emphasize a subject, or represent a result of a selection or a comparison. Also when you are questioned with the pattern “ nani ga?”, “ dore ga?”, “ dare ga?” or “ doko ga ?”, you would echo with “ga”.

    Usual way:

At first when you make a topic, “watashi no inu wa….”

Then subsequently you can say “ Sono inu ga ….” or “ Sono inu wa… “

    When you need to emphasize or point at the subject;

“ watashi no inu ga kyuu ni inaku natta”

In the scene like many dogs gather, you can say “ watashi no inu ga ichiban kawaii desu. “

    Just for your help.

Generally speaking, the usage of “ が“ can convey special conditions; circumstances, identification, feelings or moods ( surprise, astonishment, sad, will etc.)
