  • combining local government?

Within our county we have numerous small and medium cities, each with its own Mayor, Police, Fire and other government entities. If the county became the government seat for all within its boundaries

and provide the services and government services needed how much could be saved by doing away with the power mongers? Taxes would go down, combined police and fire services "could" help in keeping down costs of benefits by combining employees. Taxes would not be shared by the cities and fill the coffers of the county.

  • Is there real savings with a hybrid?

    Let's say you drive 12K a year. Gas costs $2.50 a gallon.

I drive a cat that gets 30mpg and was looking at the Smart Car and Hybrids for better fuel economy.

After crunching the numbers and estimating getting 40mpg my savings in gas is only 100 gallons a year which means a savings of approx. $250. The Smart car is really small and holds 2 people, small trunk (reliability questionable) costs nearly 17K. The next closest 4 door, 5 passenger hybrid would be a Honda Insight for about 22K, much larger could use it on a vacation. Yet I can get a good Civic, Corolla, Sentra with good reliability, good mpg for 4K less than a hybrid and forget about getting a SUV hybrid you would never get your money back at just shy of 30K. Price wise I am better off not getting a hybrid.

  • Connecting ACER Aspire netbook to internet.?

We just got this Acer Aspire netbook, it is handy but it will not attach to our home network. After trial and errors with AT&T it appears that it is the netbook not attaching. My laptop is working fine but this netbook is driving us nuts. Any ideas on what hardware this Acer has that is blocking the attachment? It is running Windows XP.

  • Why are we still in South Korea?

Everyone is so concerned about soldiers in Irag and we should be. Why is no one looking at all the soldiers in South Korea? We have been there for over 50 years, if their own countryman cannot defend themselves then learn to speak Chinese and bring our soldiers home.

  • Buying an HDTV to replace older TV?

Okay so I am ready for the big update I am going to replace a perfectly good 27" Hitachi television with an 37" LG Scarlet with 1080P and 120Mhz refresh rate. Everywhere I read they suggest that I should be replacing it with a much larger screen at least a 40". Well I do have some problems with space I am restricted to 39.6" space width. The LG seems to fit perfectly but what about viewing. If everywhere tells me I should not be further than 8 feet from the set. Seems like it should not matter if I am using a 27" non HDTV. Still wondering if the 37" LG will be big enough?
