2 AnswersComputer Networking8 years agoHow much yeast do I need for a big beer?
I am making a beer that is going to be about 1.110 OG. I calculated that I'll need about 360 Billion yeast cells from the 1b starter, about 8-9 doublings. I have a stir plate and a 2L flask. How do you figure out the size of the starter you need and how many times do I need to decant and then refill with more DME wort?
1 AnswerBeer, Wine & Spirits9 years agoIs Dysthymic Disorder considered Unipolar Diorder?
Unipolar Disorder is just the two Mood Disorders: MDD and dysthymic disorder, correct?
"Unipolar depression" = MDD, but I think unipolar disorder includes dysthymic disorder as well.
No real clear info I can find on this from the official sources???
2 AnswersMental Health9 years agoWhere can I find a 21"x 24" replacement drawer for kitchen cabinet?
I bought a house with nice cabinets but there is one large drawer missing. I can't find a manufacturer tag anywhere but they look like standard plain cabinets - no fancy design or hardware.
To replace that whole cabinet would mean ripping off the counter, and it is sandwiched in between two others.

2 AnswersProgramming & Design1 decade agoWhy doesn't Oxygen and Sodium ion form covalent bond?
When mixing a Carboxylic Acid (RCO2H) and Sodium Hydroxide (NaOH) you get RCOO(-)Na(+)
Why do they remain in an ionic bond --simply attracted-- instead of sharing the electrons.
Is it because technically Oxygen only has 1 electron is isn't "using"? If you could make RCOO(2-) would it covalently bond to Na(+)??
I thought they would share the one electron and just have it EXTREMELY polar... or is that what an ionic bond is???
2 AnswersChemistry1 decade agoOrganic chemistry question?
What is the rule for naming carbons in sugars, nucleic acids, etc?
You know, "carbon number" c1 c2 c3 c4 c5 c6 c7 c8 c9. I noticed in pentose it starts at the right. But what about hexose and adenine, etc?
So when I just look at a ring, how can I tell which 'corner' is which carbon.

I know that Na and Cl are able to separate as ions in water. But if they are separate, why does it still taste like salt?

I am actually doing a lab report on amino acids and I found two definitions on the web. Veterinary Dictionary says it is monovalent. The Medical dictionary says it is univalent.
Can someone EXPLAIN which it is, not just google/wiki it?

4 AnswersAstronomy & Space1 decade agoCan't get dogwood and hosta seeds to germinate.?
I bought a bunch of cheap seeds off eBay. I planted many and they germinate well. But I can't get a single Dogwood (white flowering) or Hosta (Kabuki) seed to germinate. I tried planting in my starters, chiting in some paper towel, nothing happens. The hosta seeds soften but dont germ and the dogwood seeds dont even soften. I keep they're environment moist but not dripping and between 68F and 73F degrees. Any help?
