What is an interview at GAP like?

I am a retail store manager for a clothing store at the mall and this is what we want to see, especially in a group interview:

- be really outgoing! We are looking for people who feel comfortable approaching customers.

- talking about sales and customer service is really important - if they ask who your favorite retailer is or where you like to shop talk about the service at the store you choose, don't say you like someplace because the clothes are cute and cheap.

- talk about their product if possible. if they ask why you want to work for GAP, say that you really like the product and you usually feel the employees are friendly and provide great service.

- be prepared to commit to working during the holidays - no asking for thanksgiving or christmas off - these are GAP's biggest days!

- talk about adding on to people's sales if you can. Suggesting accessories or additional clothing items scores big points during interviews.

Most of all be friendly, positive, and intelligent. Dress nicely and conservatively, no ripped clothing, not too much makeup, no facial piercing, etc. and you should do fine. Good luck!
